Install WordPress Plugins and Themes at One Click without FTP

Date August 12, 2007

I recently wrote about the FireFox add-on for FTP which is indeed of very good help. Since I moved my blog from blogger, I have been working on several plugin uploads for my new WordPress site and working on the theme layout. I must say that this is lot of work and it takes following few steps:

1. Search and download the plugin / theme,

2. Unzip the file,

3. Connect to FTP and

4. Upload the file or folder to the wp-plugin / wp-themes directory.

The above work can now be reduced and things can be done much quicker with this cool FireFox Addon for WordPress users called OneClick Firefox Extension. As the name suggests, this addon makes it really simpler to upload the plugins just at One Click.

All we have to do is right-click the URL on a webpage that points to zipped WP theme or plugin and select Install from the contextual menu. It’s all we have to do. Wasn’t that just a single right click that did the job? And moreover, that saves enough time.

Later it is the same procedure that we perform to login to WordPress Admin page, Go to Plugins / Presentation section and Activate the plugin / theme that we just installed.

Thanks Amit for pointing this out.
