Blogs @ 10 on Sunday Times of India

Date August 14, 2007

This week, the Mumbai Edition of Sunday Times of India has published an article called Blogs [at]10 on the occasion of completing 10 years of blogging and focusing more on the Indian Blogosphere. It gives a feeling that here is an active involvement happening and each one is contributing and sharing their knowledge by providing all the kinds of information through their blogs.

A blog as defined in Wikipedia:

A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) or sexual topics (Adult blog), and are part of a wider network of social media.

From mega-stars to common person; all are blogging may that be print media, business, technology, cuisines, travel, lifestyle, humor, sports, music, etc… there is every information available. To an extent there also are some blogs in regional language too.

There are 4 Blogs that are featured out of which I am a regular reader of 2.

1. Amit Agarwal’s Digital Inspiration

2. Arun’s trak.in

3. The Mad Momma

4. Aamir Khan’s LagaanDVD Blog

My reviews about the above blogs:

1. Digital Inspiration:

(Regular Reader)
Amit post’s in simple language, easily understandable. He has always been amazing with each of his posts, may it be…
I have never seen any better blog than Digital Inspiration that is still on the Blogger platform. He has made the best use of every tweaks and tricks that is implemented on Blogger which is not so easy.

2. Trak.in:

(Regular Reader)
Trak.in indeed deserves to be featured in The Times, London’s picks for best business blogs in India. Living in USA, Arun has been putting enough efforts to regularly update on Indian Business and being just 3 months old has really caught a lot of attention.

3. The Mad Momma:

(Never Visited)
I have never been a reader of this blog as it had not been of any concern to me. But here is what it says in the article.

Meet Madmomma, a Delhi-based mother of two who started her parenting blog a year ago. “Partly out of boredom,” she says. “I started writing on a blog because I thought these are the kind of thoughts no one would pay me for.” Now, she posts daily — on everything from potty training to playschools. “It’s amazing to see how complete strangers get involved, asking about my husband’s job hunt and my daughter’s skin problems,”

4. LagaanDVD Blog:

(Never Visited)
This is another site that I have not visited. Frankly speaking, I am a great fan of Aamir Khan but just checked this out after reading in the article.

Apart from the above, I have also been reading Amit Varma’s India Uncut. I must say this is indeed one of best blogs in India for every news update. May be TOI did not mention it because Amit also authors a weekly column for Mint, under Thinking it Through
Another best thing is when he says WTF.

Amit Agarwal has created a comprehensive list of popular blogs in India and here is an Indian Blog Directory.

Here is my pick of related articles worth reading on Trak.in are:

What is the Blogging scenario in India ?

Shortage of bloggers in India - Are Indians Blogging shy ?

Well, I have been blogging since 2005 and seen its evolvement since then. Today, it has been far much simpler for anyone to understand and with several blogging platforms available, you can easily get yourself started and go blogging. Welcome to the blogosphere.
